Posted on 02/06/2019

Buffalo Grove High School is the winner of the Arlington Heights Police Department’s Speed Awareness Video Education (S.A.V.E.) Challenge, which encouraged students to promote safe driving in the community. Their winning video will be used by the Arlington Heights Police Department for various traffic educational campaigns throughout the year.

In September, the Police Department invited high school students in Township High School District 214 to produce a public service announcement video outlining the dangers and consequences of speeding. Submissions for the S.A.V.E. Challenge were received from Wheeling High School, The Academy at Forest View, John Hersey High School and Buffalo Grove High School.

During January, the public was invited to cast their vote for the video that best presented the message on the dangers of speeding in a “creative, clear and impactful manner”. Voting concluded on Friday January 25, 2019, with Buffalo Grove High School garnering the most votes, with 48% of the over 1,000 votes submitted.

The Arlington Heights Police Department’s Traffic Enforcement Unit, along with the S.A.V.E. Challenge sponsors: Napleton’s Auto Group, Jennifer Burnidge State Farm and Arlington Heights CrimeStoppers, will be making an award presentation at Buffalo Grove High School on Tuesday, February 12.

The Arlington Heights Police Department would like to thank all the students that participated in the challenge and congratulate the students of Buffalo Grove High School who produced the winning video!
