Celebrating Seniors

The Arlington Heights Senior Center celebrates its recognition as an accredited senior center joining over 100 senior centers nationwide of the 11,000 senior centers in America. Accreditation status is bestowed by the National Institute of Senior Centers (NISC) a constituent unit of the National Council on the Aging. 

The Arlington Heights Senior Center located at 1801 W. Central Road is owned and operated by the Village. The Arlington Heights Senior Center presents a welcoming environment that promotes the independence, creates community, and lifelong learning for older adults. Through an innovative “one-stop” approach that places a myriad of programs, services, amenities, and information together. The Senior Center provides meaningful, timely, and cost-effective services. The Arlington Heights Senior Center serves as the community focal point for older adults, caregivers, and students. 

The celebration will be held throughout the month of May which is National Older Americans Month highlighting the programs and services of the eight agencies located the center which include Arlington Heights Park District, Arlington Heights Memorial Library, Arlington Heights Nurses Club, Catholic Charities Northwest and Lunch & More, Escorted Transportation Services, and Northwest Community Healthcare. 

One of the celebrations is a live, patriotic-themed performance by Heather Braoudakis on the Senior Center patio on Wednesday, May 26, 2021. The event planned by the Senior Center Advisory Council will have a special acknowledgment by Arlington Heights Mayor Thomas Hayes. Flags and pre-wrapped treats are available at this free event. Performances are limited to 50 people (masks and social distancing) at each of the three performances at 10 AM, 12 PM, or 2 PM concerts.
