Nursing Division of Arlington Heights Health & Human Services Department
The Village's two registered nurses provide skilled nursing services, under physicians' orders, for residents in their homes. Health screening clinics for hypertension, diabetes, cholesterol, and TB are available during clinics located at the Village Hall and the Senior Center. The nurses manage the Village-wide influenza and COVID-19 vaccination program, provide vision and hearing screenings in our parochial schools, teach CPR and provide education to the community.

Nursing Services provides home visits to residents of Arlington Heights enrolled in the Home Visit Program. Referrals to the program can come from a home care agency, a physician, family members, friends and neighbors or the residents themselves.
An average of 60-80 home visits are made a month. The majority of residents seen are elderly individuals who are homebound but the program is available for all individuals who have a need for nursing services. Residents are typically seen one to two times a month based upon need. Occasionally a resident may need to be seen more often, but on a temporary basis.
All visits include a physical assessment, vital signs and resources for individuals based upon need. Some monthly visits may also include lab draws or anticoagulant checks via the Coaguchek machine, prescribed medication injections or checking fasting blood sugars. A small fee is charged for the previous interventions to cover the cost of supplies. The Village of Arlington Heights is not able to charge any insurance company for services rendered
Staff may also fill monthly pill boxes for individuals in need of assistance.
