Road & Sidewalk Projects

The Village of Arlington Heights' Engineering Department oversees the street rehabilitation, reconstruction, resurfacing and sidewalk construction projects.  Village streets selected for reconstruction are at a stage of deterioration where the curb and gutter is no longer functioning properly, there is failure of the street's subbase and the main part of the street is in poor condition.  The Project Engineer for the Street Rehabilitation & Reconstruction Program is Briget Schwab.

Village streets selected for the resurfacing program are in the beginning stages of deterioration. This maintenance program is intended to extend the life of the street. Intermittent curb and sidewalk are removed and replaced and the street is milled and resurfaced.  The Project Engineer for the Street Resurfacing Program is Aldair Vargas.

The Public Works Department oversees asphalt edge grinding and resurfacing, which  is an intermediate maintenance step to help prolong the life of streets that were not scheduled for reconstruction. For streets to qualify for this program, they must be in generally good condition throughout the center lane, but failing and breaking up near the curb and gutter line. Those failing portions of the street are then milled and resurfaced with hot mix asphalt (HMA). The Street Foreman for this program is Jake Francis.
