Residents Without Electricity Seek Shelter

Residents Without Power Advised to Find Alternative Shelter Tonight
Posted on 11/26/2018

Given the dropping temperatures and the continued uncertainty when power will be restored, the Village advises all residents who are still experiencing a power outage at their home to stay with a relative, friend, or in a hotel this evening.

ComEd crews have still been unsuccessful at restoring power for over 5,000 Arlington Heights customers.  Arlington Heights has the second highest number of customers affected by the outage in the region, after Chicago. ComEd has been unable to provide estimated restoration times for the customers still experiencing an outage.

While some customers may have their power restored this evening, ComEd cannot provide guarantees. Therefore, the Village advises residents to find alternative sleeping arrangements as a precaution.

The Village is providing a warming shelter at the Senior Center, 1801 W. Central Road, until 8 p.m. this evening. The phone number for the Senior Center is 847.253.5532.  Residents can also drop by the Arlington Heights Memorial Library, 500 N. Dunton, until 10 p.m.

If you have mobility or transportation challenges, please call the Police Front Desk at 847.368.5300 for accommodations. If you are experiencing a problem that requires an immediate response, do not hesitate to call 911.
