Refuse, Recycling & Landscape Waste
Arlington Heights Solid Waste Program is provided by Groot, the Village's contracted waste hauler. Please review general information about the Village's solid waste program on Groot's website. See the April 2024- April 2025 Groot Brochure with all Groot related programs and information.
The Village is divided into 4 quadrants for collection of refuse, recycling and landscape/compost, on the same day. Refuse carts and recycling carts are to be used for collection services. All refuse and recyclables must be placed in carts provided by Groot. The sizes for a refuse cart and a recycling cart are 35-gallon, 65-gallon or 95-gallon. If you are in need of carts, or if you would like to exchange the size of your carts, please contact Groot at 800.244.1977.

Do not place carts in the street. Place carts 10 feet from parkway trees and mailboxes and 4 feet from other carts. Carts must be removed from the curb no later than 8 a.m. the day after collection. Carts may not be stored in the front yard. - Refuse Cart Program
Groot provides each residence with a refuse cart. Bags or disposable containers of refuse that do not fit in the refuse cart may be placed next to the refuse cart for collection.
